Arcade Hotel

 Demolition uncovers wall
from Arkansas hotel torn down in 1944. (September 16, 2018)

I know a picture that might be related to this discovery!

Subject: Arcade Hotel

I was looking through some old pictures of my great great aunt Ella Preston,
(owner of the Model A Ford in picture) .

I do not know if this is the same Arcade Hotel as the one that was in
Springdale. Perhaps you would know.

I do know that she would drive to Florida from Dodge City, Kansas
in the winter and may have driven through Springdale.

If this is the Springdale Arcade, feel free to use the photo for your
historical records.

From the Shilo Museum:

This is indeed our Arcade Hotel.
The image is a unique one, as it was missing its front porch, but you can see where it was once.

The buildings on either side, as well as the vehicles in the image help to date it as well.  This image would have been taken sometime about 1939.

The building to the east/right (a cafe) would have been added to the street sometime in the late 1930s.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful picture with us.
I will add it to our files on Emma Avenue so future researchers can see how the face of the Arcade changed.
